About

Hi, I’m Matt, and I like to make games sound good.

I’m 28, currently based in the East Midlands working in QA at a AAA Studio, but originally from the north west, and I’ve spent the last 11 years working in audio across music and film. But if I’m honest video game audio has always been the goal.

I’ve been obsessed with games since I was about six years old, when I got my hands on the original PlayStation. From that moment on, I was hooked, not just on playing them, but on the worlds they created. The atmosphere. The tension. The feeling.

Back then, I decided I wanted to make games. Like most six-year-olds, I perhaps slightly underestimated how monumental that task is. But the dream never really went away, it just evolved. Even more so having been working on AAA titles for two and a half years.

Through my education, years of experimenting, learning, and refining what I loved most, I narrowed my focus to game sound. Great audio doesn’t just support a game, it builds it. It is the sound design that shapes emotion, drives immersion, and turns moments into memories.

My passion is to craft audio that gives games weight, energy, and identity whether that’s huge cinematic sound design, deep immersive atmospheres, or just tight, functional in-game feedback.

Games are powerful, but I believe sound is what makes them unforgettable.

Skills

I have great experience with all of the software shown here. Wwise and Fmod have both proven excellent programs in the game jams I've worked on.

Unreal Engine and Unity have both given me a strong insight into coding, teaching me a good understanding of visual script and C#.

Reaper and Pro Tools have been my DAW's of choice for years, having helped me work on games, music and films!

On top of the skills listed above I also have experience in some other useful tools, including:

Foley recording, field recording, mixing, mastering, ADR, dialogue editing, boom operation, iZotope RX, Native Instruments software, C#, C++, visual scripting, Cubase, Audacity, Studio One, Ableton Live, Game Maker, GitHub, Microsoft Azure, Perforce Helix Core, Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code
